Let’s check in with Meghan Willey,
Woodson Class of 2019!
Meghan, what's your favorite Woodson Chorus memory?
My favorite Woodson chorus memory is either participating in Dessert on Broadway, or anytime we sang the Irish Blessing. I think about those memories often when I need a little pick me up. Overall, I treasured the sense of community we all worked together to create.
What role did music play in your life after high school?
After high school, I went to JMU to pursue a degree in Vocal Performance, and I loved it there. I sang in choir, played in band, and sang onstage in opera productions.
|
What are you up to now?
Currently, I’m pursuing my Masters degree in opera at University of Maryland. I also teach voice lessons and work actively in the church music scene. I’m incredibly grateful for the role music has played and continues to play in my life. I am also recently married to my husband Zac who is a wonderful musician. We very much enjoy making music together.
What advice would you give students in Woodson Chorus?
Always follow what you’re passionate about even if it’s not what other people think you should do. If you love what you do and work hard, the rest will fall into place.
Thank you Meghan for sharing your experience!
If you or someone you know would like to be included in an Alumni Spotlight, please email us to get in touch.
