Read Across America is Fun!

SLED's ED Kate Miller is still smiling after her visit to Monroe Elementary School, where she got to read to Ms. Hwang-Mendez' 2nd grade class. What an awesome group of kids!

She got to read them one of her favorite books, 'When It's Six O'Clock in San Francisco', and it sparked some great conversation about travel, time zones, and the student's experiences. Thanks to the fantastic teachers, administrators, staffers, and parent volunteers at all of our schools who make learning fun!

Outdoor Education Trips are Underway!

Outdoor Education overnight trips are a rite of passage for most 5th graders in San Leandro. These programs offer interesting, immersive learning about nature, history, the environment, and much more and are essential to sparking the love of science, nature, and the outdoors. 

SLED is happy to support where needed, like providing additional funds for transportation and providing fun and colorful t-shirts to students.
