SLED HQ is anxiously awaiting the safe return of the Artemis II crew. Perhaps have been a little bit obsessed with the entire mission.

One thing that stood out in the many stories of the astronauts and the extensive team supporting them every step of the way is how many of these incredible people cite childhood inspiration, a teacher, or a visit to a museum (field trip!) as the defining moment that ignited their interest and passion in space exploration, science, engineering, and so on. 

This is why SLED continues to raise money and fund the 'small things' that can spark the BIG ones. We talked a lot about that at our recent Spring Fling - the impact that experiences like field trips can have on our local students! We can't wait to see the amazing things San Leandro students can achieve with the help and support of their community. Good luck and big thanks to the Artemis II crew as they return to Earth. Thank you for the inspiration and reminder that humanity rises above and is capable of good, especially in more challenging times.

There is one more FREE informational workshop from SLED and the San Leandro Library, specifically aimed at high school students and their parents/guardians to help them plan and achieve their college goals. High schoolers of all grade levels will learn how to create a target college list that aligns with interests and goals, how to create a college task list that is manageable year-by-year, hints and information about tracking activities, the importance of social media, and so much more.
