Now that both elementary school and middle school have hosted their 'Back to School Nights', it seems completely official! School is in full swing, and SLED HQ is keeping up with lots of news!

This year, in addition to SLED's usual Teacher Mini-Grants and Field Trip Grants, we added on a third funding opportunity.

The newest teachers to SLUSD have been offered a New Teacher Classroom Setup Grant to help them supply their classrooms. Not only is it a benefit to students, but we hope it's also a warm welcome to those new to our district.

SLED has already received 22 applications!

SLED had the pleasure of visiting longtime summer intern host, Doral's Auto Repair, to hear about their commitment to offering student opportunities and how one intern has now become an employee!

Showing students the many paths open to them after their school days is incredibly important, and local businesses who help foster these opportunities, whether as intern hosts, with facility tours, career day participation, and more are super important for our local youth. Also keep an eye out for free college planning workshops focused on student athletes - October 14 - more details coming soon.

And in early 2027, SLED will be hosting more middle-school focused college planning workshops to help prepare students for the best ways to create the most options and opportunities for their post-K-12 education paths.
