One more LHS Festival & the Graduate Parade!

SLED was on site to lend a hand at the last Lawrence Hall of Science Festival of the year at Halkin Elementary. Students gathered to interact and learn with Phenomenal Physics stations. It was a fantastically fun day.

The school year wound down with a host of promotions and graduations, and of course the much-anticipated graduate parade. SLHS Seniors donned their caps and gowns for a walk down memory lane in the halls of their former San Leandro elementary schools. SLED loves to fund this important rite of passage - one of our favorite days of the year!

Community Events!

SLED had an amazing day at the San Leandro Cherry Festival, getting to chat about our work to the community. Our guess the cherries in the jar contest was a hit, and one lucky winner came within 17 cherries - pretty good guess! The mayor stopped by, as well as alum of SLED's College Application Workshop, friends from sponsors and other community partners, and it was a beautiful day in the 'Dro.

As a member of Rotary Club of San Leandro, our ED was also on hand at the SLHS Senior Awards Night to hand out the Rotary Scholarships. It was a lovely surprise to get to award one of the scholarships to one of SLED's former interns! Huge kudos to one of our favorite fellow non-profits, the San Leandro Scholarship Foundation who makes this event possible.
