SLED News & Updates

Summer internships are well underway. High school students from San Leandro High and Lincoln High are gaining important career-level work experience at a fantastic variety of local businesses. From medical field experience to nail care, trades training and construction to automotive repair and supply, from real estate to farming, and of course, marketing and research at SLED HQ.

Some of these opportunities are paid by the host business, and the rest are paid by SLED and SLUSD. It is so important that these internships include a stipend so that students who rely upon paid summer work can benefit from the experience without sacrificing pay.

If you want to support internships or host one of your own, let us know!

Our community partners have fun stuff happening! For years SLED has supported the New Shoes for School initiative as fiscal sponsors, and we are pleased to support again.

Also, one of the newest non-profits in San Leandro, Juniper Corner, continues to bring super fun pop-up playtimes for toddlers and preschoolers around town. The next one is Friday, June 19 at Thrasher Park. It's a great time for families with little ones!

SLED is working on our next set of fun things, too, so stay tuned for more info.
