Welcome Back to School!

Over 9,000 students arrived at SLUSD campuses yesterday for the first day of school.

The newly hired teachers arrived to a New Teacher Classroom Setup grant from SLED to help make sure their classrooms were well supplied for their students.

Students of all grade levels will have access to SLED programs throughout the year with Teacher Mini-Grants, Field Trip grants, and supports for enrichment and learning opportunities.

Schools are such a vital part of our community, and SLED is happy to be part of our local students' experience.

Summer Is For Internships!

Summer Is For College Exploration!

SLED knows how impactful and important internships are to students - at both high school and college levels.

We are proud to partner with SLUSD to help make high school internships available to students - we provide stipends to make the experience accessible, and help where we can to find more opportunities. The high school cohort this year was so impressive, and the Expo where they got to share about their summer learning was inspirational.

SLED is hugely grateful to our friends and partners at Ghirardelli Chocolate Company, who has hosted an intensive and meaningful college internship program for San Leandro students since 2014. This summer's group of interns were hired for HR, Sales, and Finance roles, and the career-level experience they had access to is unparalleled.

Thank you to all intern hosts and our partners at SLUSD and Ghirardelli!

Students in SLED's Pioneer Pathways program spent time on campus at Cal State East Bay, and it was an experience to remember.

From day one, students connected with peers who share their goals and dreams, sat down with faculty for real conversations about college life and career paths, and explored the campus with guided tours that turned "someday" into "I can see myself here." Add in hands-on activities that made learning fun and interactive, and you've got a summer packed with growth, connection, and inspiration.

Students left with something priceless: a clearer vision of their future in higher education.

Thanks to the dedicated crew at California State University, East Bay for the coordination and organization, and to SLED's SLHS alumni chaperones. Your support allows SLED to continue to build and grow more pathways to college and career!
