On September.30th at 10pm a devastating 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck Cebu. The epicenter and devastation was about 3 hours drive from the city. Until now, families are unable to sleep in their home either because of damage or the trauma of frequent aftershocks. Within 24 hours, our staff were mobilizing aid to our partner churches in the area and assessing how we may be able to provide further assistance.
Through the generosity of our donors and our partnership with Samaritan's Purse and WorldHelp we were able to deliver much needed aid to over 3,500 families through relationships with over 50 local churches. As of this weekend we had been able to deliver hope in the form of:
- 3,599 Shelter kits (tarp, rope, sleeping mat & mosquito net)
- 2,018 Food packs
- 1,995 Hygiene kits
- 26 Canopy tents for churches to hold worship outdoors
- 4 generators that churches will use to create cellphone recharging stations for their community.
