The inspiration for this webinar series is the growing needs of practitioners to better understand the present health impacts of climate change in order to provide effective medical care in Texas. Texas PSR is partnering with the Southwest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health and the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments to be able to offer this continuing education to physicians, physicians' assistants and nurses throughout Texas.
About the speaker: Dr. Todd Sack speaks and writes widely on environmental sustainability and climate change preparedness for healthcare practices. He edits the My Green Doctor practice management program for twenty-nine health professional societies, including PSR. To read more about this month's speaker, click here.

In Response to PSR Physicians' Warning, Belgians Fired up about Health Impacts of Gas Extraction in Texas, Pennsylvania

Belgian legislators are taking Texans health impacts into account in their decision-making about a gigantic new ethylene cracker plant planned for Antwerp. They are responding to a letter from PSR Pennsylvania and Texas PSR to Belgian legislators, that the ethylene cracker plant planned for Antwerp would turbo charge greenhouse gas emissions and have profound health impacts on Texans and Pennsylvanians.
According to a Belgian news story: "The cry of alarm from American doctors is already being heard by the Green opposition party. “Surely Flanders cannot build factories that cause health problems elsewhere in the world and lead to additional greenhouse gas emissions? The Flemish government is trying to cover up the negative impact of fracking on health and climate," says Flemish faction leader Mieke Schauvliege (Green)."
