Your Generosity ➡️ Spannocchia's Laghetto Project!
|
Thanks to your generosity, we reached the goal for our spring fundraising project in June—the first of the Randall Stratton Memorial Fund—and the work has been underway on the laghetto and the orchard ever since! This includes:
- Water pump and oxygenator installed in the laghetto, and hooked up to solar panels for power.
- Water holding tank in place between the laghetto and the nearby orchard.
- Irrigation lines laid from the water holding tank to the orchard.
Aside from some troubleshooting to ensure the water pump is working at capacity, and the addition of fish and more aquatic plants once that is done, all the major elements of the project are complete! The farm will continue to expand and diversify the orchard in the future, maximizing this holistic, self-reliant irrigation system.
|
In addition to gratitude for our community for funding this project in Randall's memory, we owe our thanks to the Harvard Extension School classes that helped the staff develop this plan, and to Randall Stratton himself, for always envisioning and working toward a more sustainable and self-sufficient Spannocchia.

Vendemmia (Grape Harvest) 2024!
It's been all hands on deck for the grape harvest this year, with farm staff and interns working hard to pick all the grapes before a few days of forecasted rain. Thankfully it is a much better and bigger harvest than last year! Check out our Instagram highlight reel for a behind-the-scenes look at the process. 🍇🍷🍇
