Water Fountain Updates

Since the last newsletter, water fountains have been installed at the Mount Vernon Trail Head, Fort Hunt Park, Belle Haven Park, and Jones Point. These water fountains will be on year round and offer a dog bowl, water bottle filler, and two heights for drinking fountains. Read more about the water fountain project here.

National Capital 20 Miler Supporting FoMVT

This year, runners can choose to donate to FoMVT as part of the registration for the National Capital 20 Miler.

The National Capital 20 Miler is Washington, DC’s premier fall marathon tuneup race. Taking place on the C&O Towpath, the race offers runners a flat, fast out-and-back course with water and nutrition support at regular intervals. Runners may choose the 20 Miler or 5 Miler option. The 5 Miler is a perfect tuneup for a fall half. All runners receive a premium race hoodie.

Thanks DC Road Runners for supporting FoMVT!

New Volunteer Leaders

We are happy to announce that we have two new volunteer leaders, Nishant and Sam. They have been long-time volunteers and we are happy that they have joined the leadership team at FoMVT. As an all volunteer-run organization, our volunteer leaders make volunteer events happen. We now have 21 trained volunteer leaders serving the organization.

August Recap

In August we hosted 4 volunteer events with 108 volunteers giving 253 volunteer hours.

Before/After Photo of the Month

In preparation for the new water fountain, volunteers removed each cement paver of the Belle Haven rest area by hand then cleaned/re-leveled them. This was back-breaking work, but it looks so good.
