Arlington County is seeking public input for the design of the Crystal City to DCA Bridge. The bridge will provide a direct connection from the Mount Vernon Trail to Crystal Drive and the terminal entrance at National Airport. The bridge will be 20 feet wide and provides the opportunity to create the safest and most comfortable access between Crystal City, the Mount Vernon Trail and the airport, but only if there's public support for these design choices. Provide your input on the design by February 9th. We have compiled and posted our suggestions for the CC2DCA project here. Please feel free to incorporate our feedback into your own responses.

The past year was a whirlwind of growth for the Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail, with awards, growth in volunteers, new events, media opportunities, new partners, and major trail improvements. Read more about our accomplishments in the 2024 Annual Report here!

January saw record snow that just would not melt! We hosted two volunteer events to remove snow and ice from the trail. Thank you to everyone who came out in the cold weather to improve the safety on the trail.

In January we hosted 4 volunteer events with 152 volunteers giving 333 volunteer hours. Highlights included co-hosting a New Year’s Day Hike with Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck and 75 volunteers coming out in the freezing cold for MLK Day of Service.
