New Bike Racks

There are seven new bike racks on the Mount Vernon Trail thanks to a FoMVT project. Check out the new bike racks at:

  • Mount Vernon Trailhead Rest Area
  • Riverside Park
  • Fort Hunt Park Rest Area
  • Belle Haven Park Rest Area
  • Gravelly Point
  • Columbia Island Marina (2 racks)

In 2024, Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail (FoMVT) was one of 170 organizations selected to receive a Two For The Trails grant from Athletic Brewing Company. Named after Athletic Co-Founder and CEO Bill Shufelt’s family tradition of taking two brews to toast post-trail adventures, this program gives back up to $2 million annually to protect and restore outdoor spaces across the globe. Two For The Trails Grant funds replaced 5 bike racks on the trail. The last two bike racks were paid for by donations from the Arlington Community Foundation year-end Wish Catalog.

Starting October 1st, explore the NOVA Loop Trail Puzzle Hunt to piece together clues along the entire loop! Learn more about the NOVA Loop Trail here and register for the Puzzle Hunt here.

Not being able to see around corners can be dangerous for trail users. Volunteers helped improve sight lines by clearing out overgrown vegetation near Slaters Lane.
