New water fountains are coming to the Mount Vernon Trail thanks to a $475,000 grant from the National Park Foundation. The new fountains will have water bottle fillers and remain operational year round. The Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail were able to offer $40,000 in matching funds to strengthen the grant proposal thanks to the investment of our donors. Can you help us continue to make big improvements on the trail? All donations made today will be doubled up to $7,600!

This year we worked with the National Park Service to renovate the rest area at the Peter B. Webster III Memorial Area by adding a new water fountain, benches, bike rack, interpretive signage, and trail markings. There’s still a lot of work to do on the trail that needs your support.

If you make a Giving Tuesday donation today it will be doubled, up to $7,600, thanks to a group of six Mount Vernon Trail super supporters. Your contribution will help us continue our weekly volunteer trail improvement events as well as provide funding to continue upgrading trail facilities.

See you on the trail!

P.S. Everything good in life comes from people working together. We’d like to thank the Friends of Dyke Marsh for obtaining a letter of support from 14 local organizations for the water fountain replacement grant and ALX Dog Walk for providing support towards the grant matching funds.
