Donations to the SWWC Foundation support a variety of regional student enrichment opportunities for K-12 students. Events held since the start of the 2023-24 school year are highlighted below.

The Southwest Minnesota Career Expo, sponsored by the SW MN Workforce Development Board and the Southwest Initiative Foundation, was held in Worthington and Marshall at the end of September. Over 2,100 high school sophomores attended and visited with over 130 exhibitors showcasing careers in southwest Minnesota.

Over 600 students from across the region attended the Conference for Young Artists held on October 25 at SMSU. After listening to keynote speaker, Author/Illustrator Gary Harbo, students attended three hands-on breakout sessions.

The Photography Competition was held on December 1 at SWWC in Marshall. Seventeen students from Heron Lake-Okabena and Yellow Medicine East competed in a variety of categories.

Junior High Knowledge Bowl Sub-Regionals were held in December and the Super Regional was held on January 3. Below are pictures of the top two teams from the Super Regional. Congratulations to all 248 students who took part in JHKB this year!

The Conference for Young Writers was held on Thursday, January 4 at Southwest Minnesota State University. Over 260 students from the region attended a keynote session with Erin Soderberg Drowning, children's book author, followed by breakout sessions. The conference was sponsored by the Monogram Foods Loves Kids Foundation.

For the very first time in Marshall, a Minnesota First Tech Challenge qualifier was held Saturday, January 27! FTC is part of an international robotics program that includes more than 6,700 teams globally. High Tech Kids, in partnership with FIRST, has been bringing FIRST Tech Challenge to Minnesota since 2013.
