Nuclear Weapons Action Alert
|
We are thrilled to announce an exciting collaboration with Back from the Brink and other partners to raise awareness about the threat of nuclear weapons on Capitol Hill this spring! Annie Jacobsen has provided 535 signed copies of her recent book Nuclear War: A Scenario. That's right—one for every Member of Congress!
On March 11, activists will gather in Washington, DC, for a Day of Action, distributing one book to each member of Congress by the end of the day. This will be a powerful statement and a crucial step in our ongoing fight to reduce the risk of nuclear war.
How You Can Participate: You can make a significant impact from right here in Maine.
Here’s how you can help: Contact Your Member of Congress! MEND (Mainers Ending Nuclear Dangers) members have crafted unique messages for each of Maine's federal delegation. Please personalize each of your emails, if you can. Many MEND organizations are also writing letters, including this informative letter from VFP Maine's Doug Rawlings. These quick actions will be especially impactful in the lead up or immediately after each of them receive the book on March 11. If you wish to share any responses you recieve back, please email director@psrmaine.org.

Take Action: Defend the Environmental Protection Agency
|
We depend on the EPA for clean air, clean water, a healthy climate, and so much more — any cuts to its funding and staff puts our future at risk. EPA's Inspector General, scientists, and other employees focused on environmental justice have been fired without cause over the past few weeks. This is not a matter of government efficiency, but rather a blatant power grab by the Trump administration. Join us now in urging Congress to defend the EPA.
