Join us in Augusta for Conservation Lobby Day!

Dear Jane,

The 2025 legislative session is in full swing, and critical decisions are being made about how to tackle climate change, move toward 100% clean electricity and universal electricity access, and cultivate healthier communities. That’s why we’re inviting you to join the Environmental Priorities Coalition, PSR Maine Board President, Sydney Sewall, MD and Alliance Co-Chair Daniel Oppenheim, PhD, MD, at Conservation Lobby Day on Thursday, April 3, from 8 AM - 12 PM at the State House in Augusta!

This is your chance to meet directly with lawmakers and urge them to take action on some of the most pressing environmental issues in Maine. We’ll start the day with lobbying training, hear from legislative leaders, and then head over to the State House to speak with legislators about policies that impact our communities.

Urgent Action: Community Health and Engagement Must be a Priority

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has been a valuable mechanism for public participation since 1970. This law requires the federal government to inform community members of the potential environmental impacts of a project and get feedback from the people on the frontlines. Since its inception, this tool has been utilized by  environmental justice communities to organize and protect themselves.

Now, the Trump administration is once again attempting to dismantle NEPA to give developers and polluters even more power. Without overarching policy on how to implement NEPA, projects can more readily move forward without community input and put health at risk.

Comments are due this Thursday so please submit yours and share this action with your network ASAP!

A note from our national partner: Trump Administration's Dangerous Rollback of Environmental Regulations

From our partners at the Medical Society Consortium on Climate and Health: On March 12, the Trump administration announced a series of regulatory rollbacks, cutting 31 Biden-era regulations designed to protect clean air and water while boosting industry profit. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin announced that the agency would reconsider regulations on power plant pollution, vehicle emissions, and water contamination. The administration is also reconsidering the endangerment finding, which classifies greenhouse gases as harmful to human health. Read the full letter here.
