Damaging Maine: New Report Reveals High Stakes
|
PSR Maine Board President Dr. Sydney Sewall spoke at NRCM's press conference last week which unveiled a new report laying out how proposed cuts to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) budget would gut protections for Maine’s clean air and water.
The proposed U.S. House budget cuts EPA funding by 23% — the steepest rollback in decades — slashing programs that keep our water safe to drink, clean up toxic waste sites, and protect low-income communities from pollution and the impacts of climate change on our health. If these cuts go through, we’ll see polluted rivers, dirtier air, and stalled cleanup projects that will threaten Maine’s health, economy, and way of life.
