Dear Dear Jane,

Be encouraged today with another story of joy restored - a sibling set goes from chaos to calm!

Monica was just five years old in 2016 when calamity struck her family.

Her father passed away, leaving her chronically-ill mother to care for Monica (5) and her two brothers, Emmanuel (8) and Martin (4). Her mother quickly realized she could not physically care for the children and asked her sister-in-law, the children's aunt, to raise the children.

Their aunt agreed to take charge of their upbringing but also had significant medical challenges; her arm had been amputated. The aunt was left caring for three children with one arm and struggling substantially to perform her job as a seamstress.

Acknowledging that she was also ill-equipped to care for three small children, their aunt took them to live with her younger sister, yet another aunt.

Desperate for these children to have a future in a family, the younger sister tenaciously reached out to Mama Theresa, the Family Homes' matron mama, for help, only to discover that there was no space for the children.

But in God's providence, space opened up soon after, and all three children happily joined Mama Bridgett's family. Their chronically-ill mother was thrilled, joyful that her children's security had been recovered!

Monica was seven in 2019 when she arrived, having never stepped foot in a classroom. Now she's a good student and absolutely loves the 4th grade!

Caring, responsible, and trustworthy are all words that describe Monica. She's bright, athletic, and a natural-born leader.

Monica's story showcases the harsh realities of life in Zambia. In the wake of dire medical issues, the children's biological relatives are so thankful for the opportunity for Monica and her brothers to grow up with the love and security of a community that cares deeply about them.

Every Orphan's Hope exists to glorify God and see orphans raised to life in Christ in a HOME, in a FAMILY, and in a COMMUNITY where they are known & loved.
