From Helped to Helper
She didn't stop at surviving. She's helping others thrive.
What about you?
"Your past doesn't define who you are or dictate your future—only the steps and choices that you make moving forward."
— Shikina Owens, 2022 Spirit Awardee
Empowerment Doesn't Stop with One Woman. It Multiplies.
Every Bettie Brand Spirit Award is more than a check—it's belief, it's momentum. And often, it's the first time someone has said,
"Yes, we see you—and we believe in your future."
And when that happens? Something powerful follows.
Women use their Spirit Award to take the next brave step.
And then?
They reach back.
They mentor, they speak, they donate.
Because someone once did the same for them.
