Dear NCFW community,
Â
Since we last reached out to you with an update about the organization’s facilities issues, we received a number of thoughtful emails with questions about what has led us to this point and where we’re headed in the future. To everyone who has reached out to connect with us – thank you! Hearing firsthand what members of our community feel about decisions we’re weighing is something we value, and your feedback on this is an important reminder of how crucial varied perspectives are in trying to solve some of the facilities challenges we’re facing. Â
Â
We want to help bring more clarity to what we’d like to work on in the months to come. First – and perhaps most importantly – we want to reiterate that nothing about this facilities work is set in stone. We’re still very much in the exploratory stage of this process. With that said, we’re approaching this with a sense of resolve because we do know a number of things to be true: our lease at Astoria Food Hub will expire in late 2025, our current facility has limitations that affect our operations, and any sort of major facility change for a multi-program organization like ours is a time-consuming process. Considering these things, we will share about what improvement might look like, make informed decisions about what comes next, and ensure we’re not caught unprepared when our lease ends.
Â
Last fall many of you completed a feedback survey about your experiences with North Coast Food Web. Reading about some of your facilities-related concerns, we started wondering how an improved physical space for the organization might help our program operations. As exciting as it is to think about NCFW operating in a space that meets all of our needs, we know that getting to that place can only be done successfully with the right mix of community feedback, diligence, organizational capacity, and momentum. Â
Â
This is where we could really use your input. We want to make sure that any facility decision we make is one that truly reflects the needs of our community. We also want to ensure that any steps we take along this journey are ones we make responsibly, with data and professional expertise guiding us on. So, in the coming months, we’re going to provide a number of opportunities for members of our community to share their feedback with us. We’re determined to hear from as many people as possible, so we’re going to organize a variety of ways to hear from you. Stay tuned for updates about these feedback sessions.

Once again, thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to the work we do. We are grateful to have you as valued members of the North Coast Food Web.
