The day is almost here! We're so excited for our first-ever Community Arts and Crafts Friendraiser Thursday, September 11th, 6-9 at Sugar Space.
It’s a wonderful chance to celebrate creativity, connection, and purpose. View and purchase incredible artwork from both talented local artists and the youth we serve. Proceeds will support our mission to break cycles of poverty and adversity through consistent, caring professional mentorship.
This event wouldn't be possible without our Lead Sponsors, Cambia Health Foundation, O.C. Tanner and SCHEELS. We also want to thank First Utah Bank and America First Credit Union for supporting this special event. We can't wait to see you there!

Summer Camps & A New Partnership
|
This summer was a blast! Friends - Utah hosted two official summer camps in June and July, where youth spent hours making new friends and having a ton of fun. Camp days were packed with exciting learning and art activities, hands-on science experiments, and sports of all kinds. Everyone went home happy—and exhausted—from all the fun!
We were also thrilled to pilot a partnership with Waterford.org Early Learning to support literacy development and prevent summer learning loss. At the end of May, Waterford and Friends - Utah hosted a launch party to introduce youth and families to the program and celebrate the partnership. Participating youth completed several hundred hours of reading, math and science activities.

Friends - Utah Youth Dive into Creativity and Careers at Adobe
|
We want to give a massive shout-out to our board member and Adobe employee, Diana Harter, for organizing an incredible field trip to Adobe's Lehi campus. Thanks to her efforts, our youth spent a day experiencing the magic of technology firsthand. They used AI to bring their artwork to life, enjoyed some fun and games in the arcade, and learned about the diverse and exciting career opportunities that a company like Adobe offers. It was a day filled with creativity, fun, and new possibilities!

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Generous Supporters
|
We are honored to announce a significant, multi-year investment from Call to Action Philanthropies. Their trust in our work and belief in the power of early childhood education and mental health is so meaningful.
This generous, trust-based partnership will allow us to deepen our commitment to the youth and families we serve today, while also laying the foundation to mentor more youth in the future. Thanks to their support, we can continue to build brighter futures, create a sense of belonging and connection, and build stronger families for generations to come.
Thanks to a new grant from the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation's Westside Community Initiative, we can deepen our commitment to youth and families we serve in West Salt Lake communities. This partnership enables Friends to provide consistent, caring mentorship, build stronger families and continue helping the next generation thrive.

Getting Ready for a Great School Year!
|
On August 7th, Friends-Utah hosted our annual Back to School BBQ! Families enjoyed JDawgs hot dogs and snow cones while youth received backpacks filled with school supplies. Everyone had a great time getting to know our staff and other families with a fun scavenger hunt.
We are so grateful to Esteban Nunez for sponsoring the BBQ, FinWise Bank for donating the backpacks, and to everyone who purchased school supplies from our Amazon Wish List. Thanks to your support, our youth are fully equipped and ready for a successful school year!
