A Note on Reparative Transfers
|
When you make a Reparative Transfer, you are not making a donation or gift. Your Reparative Transfer is a wealth transfer given directly to Black Descendants of Enslaved Americans. Making a Reparative Transfer is a conscious and intentional acknowledgement and way to reconcile the ways you, and perhaps your family, have benefited historically from slavery and ongoing structural racism. Reparative Transfers can be made by anyone, regardless of wealth, and can be made in any amount. We all have a role to play when it comes to healing this nation. Your Reparative Transfer, in whatever amount, is a way to take meaningful action towards that healing.
Join the Reparation Generation by making a Reparative Transfer today.

Amherst Town Council creates Black Reparations Committee - The Amherst Town Council voted unanimously to create a Black Reparations Committee. This decision comes almost two years after the African Heritage Reparation Assembly gave its final report to the council. The new committee will recommend how to spend reparations funds to address the harm caused by slavery and discrimination.
Newsom Pledged $12 Million for Racial Justice in California. What Now? - In June 2024, California Gov. Gavin Newsom set aside $12 million for reparations legislation, a move by the state to atone for its legacy of racism and discrimination against Black residents. KQED spoke to lawmakers, academics, and advocates about what is happening with the $12 million, how we got here, and what the future holds for the reparations movement.

The song “Reparations” by FirstRepair is a hip-hop anthem that explores the history of and ongoing legacies of slavery. The song—written, produced, and performed by Arm Real, Golden Child, ALäZ, Ras Kass, Supreme Kai, and The Holy Thief—serves as a call to action and a lyrical white paper for the centuries-old Reparations movement.

For the Reparations Activated
|
Those who actively contribute to and advocate for reparations via personal action, financial support, storytelling, advocacy, and engagement with the broader reparations movement.

California's historic efforts to put forth legislation that address the wounds of the past are to be applauded and appreciated. At the same time, many have felt the legislation fall short of their original intention. We offer this piece, Christopher Lodgson: California Must Reject SB 437 and SB 518, to help broaden your understanding of the nuances within the movement and convey the importance of continued dialogue to confront these issues. While our focus continues to be at the federal level and we don't offer opinions on local and state efforts, we have always been an organization that leans into messy conversations, for it is within the messiness that progress can be made. We invite you to read and reflect.

Successful Reparations models, such as those created by RepGen, are leading to Reparations becoming recognized as a feasible and appropriate way to address and repair harm across the country. The city of Tulsa recently announced $105 million in reparations as redress for the 1921 Tulsa race massacre. Help RepGen continue to show that Reparations work by making a Reparative Transfer today.

Every other month, we host a “Meet RepGen” Virtual House meeting where we share our “reparations in action” approach and explain how this advances the broader reparation movement. In the months in between we host a “Reparations Deep Dive” where we delve into a particular topic of importance related to RepGen’s work or the reparations movement at large.

Join us for an important conversation exploring the intersections between the Land Back and Reparations movements. We’ll discuss how Black and Indigenous communities can deepen solidarity, honor each other’s histories, and advance shared struggles for repair and sovereignty. We’ll also discuss how non Black and Indigenous people can support both movements in meaningful ways. Register today. Register here to attend.
